The FTS Graduate Study Collection.\nIn connection to the exhibition All That Glitters … \, The Museum at FIT and the master’s-level Fashion and Textile Studies: History\, Theory\, Museum Practice program host a panel discussion on the conservation of dress collections\, exploring how the development of new fashion materials and industry technology affects deterioration. The sustainability of fashion is considered from the stage of initial production to long-term care in a museum. The panel includes MFIT conservators Alison Castaneda and Callie O’Connor\, and graduate conservation student Katherine Shark. \nFashion Culture programs are organized by The Museum at FIT to provide new perspectives on the culture of fashion. All programs are free unless otherwise indicated. Join Tanya Meléndez-Escalante\, senior curator of Education and Public Programs\, for this panel presentation and workshop on using the museum as a teaching and learning resource. \nOur interdisciplinary panel presenters José Blanco (History of Art)\, Andrea Diodati (Fashion Design-Apparel)\, Pamela Ellsworth (GFM)\, Loretta Volpe (AMC)\, and Lauren Zodel (Fashion Design-Art) will showcase their use of the museum across the curriculum.
