April 13 at 3:15 pm - 4:15 pm
Dannielle Tegeder; Hilma’s Ghost, Abstract Futures, fabricated by Stephen Miotto, photo by Erienne Frossard.

Dannielle Tegeder is a New York City–based artist whose practice is grounded in painting, but also extends to drawing, wall works, sculpture, installation, animation, music, artist books, conceptual strategies and writing. Born in a family of steamfitters, her exposure to shop drawings, construction plans, and diagrams became an inspiration to her work. Her work has been shown extensively both nationally and internationally.

In 2020 she co-founded the two-person collective Hilma’s Ghost in collaboration with artist Sharmistha Ray, a feminist collective that has resulted in many exhibitions, publications, and education projects, including a prestigious MTA Arts and Design commission, Abstract Futures, a 600-square-foot glass mosaic mural where the 7 train connects with Grand Central Station.

The ARTSpeak lecture series is presented by the Department of Fine Arts and been made possible by a generous grant from the Susan Daykin Fine Arts Department Fund.

This event is free and open to the public.
