SUMMARY:Exhibition: Conversations: Artworks in Dialogue — Closes
DESCRIPTION:Dimitri Dimizas\, Hold It Together\, 2014\, steel and concrete.\nThe Art and Design Gallery is temporarily closed.  \nMarch 17–April 7\, 2020 \nThis exhibition calls attention to each artist’s distinct visual voice\, while simultaneously inviting them to engage with one another in a curated discourse. Conversations: Artworks in Dialogue brings together a group of 23 artists whose works are both visually and conceptually diverse\, but when the works are meticulously and intentionally placed in relation to each other and in conjunction with the architectural space\, it creates a new relationship that demands engagement and conversation. The objective is to enable each voice to be heard in the context of the exchange as a whole. \nThe Art and Design Gallery at FIT showcases the work of students\, faculty\, and distinguished alumni as well as guest artists in every exhibition. This exhibition is curated by FIT alumnus Lobsang Tsewang\, Fine Arts ’17. \nThe participant artists are: \nFIT students: Camelia Giannouklas\, Ellen Marszalkowski\, Daniel Elias Pascual\, Sienna Prater\, Matthew Stewart\, John Xavier \nFIT alumni: Dimitri Dimizas\, Carly Fitzsimons\, Madjeen Isaac\, Kathleen Johnson\, Claire Jones\, Olivia Reckert\, Briget Villanueva \nFIT faculty/staff: N’Ketiah Brakohiapa\, Pansum Cheng\, Bill Pangburn\, Melanie Reim\, Jeff Way \nGuest artists: Meny Beriro\, Jay Feigelis\, Amanda Guest\, Brece Honeycutt\, Molly Ann Walker \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Expressions of Civility — Closes
DESCRIPTION:In recognition of FIT’s commitment to creating a civil\, inclusive campus for all\, the annual faculty and staff exhibition will include student work for the first time. \nThe exhibition will explore: What does it mean to be civil in a world that is increasingly not? In an era where personal attacks and inflammatory positions have superseded dialogue and debate\, how do we seek to understand that which separates us and builds connections that increase empathy\, inclusivity\, knowledge and community strength? Civility—and the ability to reconcile our differences for the greater good—is at the very root of a democratic society. It spurs forward movement\, it moves us past our points of conflict\, it is what fuels progress. Ultimately\, it’s the only thing that ever has. \nArtwork will be on view in the following locations: \nLynn and Carl Goldstein Gallery\, Feldman Center\, Ninth Floor (faculty/staff work): November 14\, 2018–October 2019 \nGladys Marcus Library\, Fifth and Sixth floors (student work): November 19\, 2018–March 31\, 2019 \nGallery FIT\, The Museum at FIT (students/faculty/staff): November 19\, 2018–January 26\, 2019

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Expressions of Civility — Opens
