DESCRIPTION:November 2–December 8\, 2024\nThe Museum at FIT Lobby \nThe Fashion Institute of Technology and The Museum at FIT proudly present the Photography and Related Media BFA Junior exhibition: This Must Be The Place. This collection\, from 42 students\, showcases photo based installations ranging from the documentation of intimate life\, directed staged narrative tableaus\, and visual representations of conceptual ideas. This vast scope of work reflects contemporary trends of fine art photography\, showcasing individual creative vision\, while reflecting the time and place we all inhabit. \nThis Must Be the Place is a student-led exhibition\, produced and created in the Photographic Concepts and Exhibition course where throughout the semester\, students produce photographs to push their technical and creative abilities\, as well as working collaboratively in committees to bring this show to life. \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.

This showcase delves into themes of identity\, resilience\, and creativity\, celebrating the impactful contributions of African-descendant communities on style and self-expression. By exploring the interconnectedness of Black culture across borders\, the exhibition invites people from all backgrounds to engage in this shared narrative\, emphasizing the dynamic role of African influence in today’s fashion landscape. \n\nAbout the Art and Design Gallery \nThe Art and Design Gallery brings together the work of FIT students\, faculty\, alumni\, and invited outside artists in every exhibition. The gallery\, located in the glass-walled lobby of FIT’s Pomerantz Center\, is a window into the college and a window out\, serving as a space to foster learning and innovation. \nThe gallery is open 9 am to 5 pm daily. \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.
