SUMMARY:Exhibition: The Unwearable Collection — Closes
DESCRIPTION:September 18–October 15\, 2023\nArt and Design Gallery \nThe FIT Foundation\, in partnership with the FIT DTech Lab\, presents the evolution of The Unwearable Collection by Boehringer Ingelheim: pieces that are impossible to wear and impossible to ignore. The Unwearable Collection Exhibition—inclusive of “Uncertainty\,” the fifth piece designed by FIT’s Fashion Design MFA students Natalia Robles-Oteiza and Urvi Selarka under the supervision of Dobriana Geneva\, assistant professor\, Fashion Design\, with creative direction by Michael Ferraro\, executive director\, FIT DTech Lab—utilizes fashion to illustrate the debilitating pain and uncertainty that people living with generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) endure during a flare. \nThe collaboration was supported by multiple interdisciplinary teams of FIT students who developed launch strategies for exhibition: Lauren Lee\, Animation\, Interactive Media and Game Design; Tyler Hernandez\, AIMGD; Zuzanna Zmijewska\, Exhibition and Experience Design MA; Jace Son; Exhibition and Experience Design MA; Margarita Kaplan\, Advertising and Digital Design; Harry Xizhuo Lin\, Advertising and Digital Design; Mariko Dreifuss\, Advertising and Digital Design; and faculty members Dobriana Gheneva\, Fashion Design; Eric Kaplan\, Animation\, Interactive Media and Game Design; and Joseph Staluppi\, Advertising and Digital Design. \nExhibition advisement was provided by creative agency\, Lorem Ipsum\, a multidisciplinary exhibit design agency integrating the physical and the digital to deliver dynamic\, inclusive\, and connected immersive experiences: Abigail Honor\, Partner and Masha Pyshkina\, Head of Museum and Experience Design. The exhibition was also made possible by valued industry partners\, Mirror NYC\, Mood Fabrics\, and Wild Posting. \n\nAbout the Art and Design Gallery \nThe Art and Design Gallery brings together FIT students\, faculty\, alumni\, and guest artists in each exhibition. The gallery\, located in the glass-walled lobby of FIT’s Pomerantz Center\, is a window into the college and a window out\, serving as a space to foster learning and innovation. \nThe gallery is open from 9 am to 5 pm daily. \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Grace Coddington in Conversation with Photographer Willie Christie
DESCRIPTION:The Gladys Marcus Library will host a conversation between legendary Vogue style director Grace Coddington and iconic British fashion photographer and director Willie Christie. Christie will talk about his first-ever book of photography\, Willie Christie—A Very Distinctive Style: Then and Now. A Q&A will follow. \nWillie Christie was born a while ago. During the ‘70s and early ‘80s he worked extensively as a photographer with British Vogue. His portfolio includes award-winning advertising campaigns (L’Oréal and Yves Saint Laurent)\, fashion and portrait work for international icons (e.g.\, Cary Grant\, Grace Jones\, Catherine Deneuve) and rock ‘n’ roll album covers and portraits (e.g.\, Rolling Stones\, Pink Floyd\, David Bowie\, and more). After winning a series of awards and being featured in several exhibitions\, the lure of film pulled him away from photographs. In 1982\, he moved into the realm of writing and directing commercials and music videos\, such as for Pink Floyd’s Final Cut album and the first cinema commercial for Medway shoes. The launch of Christie’s Limited Edition Collection in 2011 marked the first time the photographer delved into his personal archives to showcase work that hadn’t been displayed for over three decades. \nThis event will also be livestreamed.  \nThis event is free and open to the public; REGISTER HERE.
