Courtesy of Bloomsbury.\nCUNY professor Eugenia Paulicelli presents her book Fashion Under Fascism: Beyond the Black Shirt\, where she explores the subtle yet sinister changes to the seemingly innocuous practices of everyday dress and shows why they were a concern for the Italian state in the 1930s. Importantly\, she also demonstrates how these developments made an impact on the global dominance of Italian fashion today. A book signing follows the event. \nFashion Culture programs are organized by The Museum at FIT to provide new perspectives on the culture of fashion. These sessions aim to demystify new technologies and explore how they are shaping the creative industries\, from product creation to supply chain management. By empowering the FIT community\, we can better prepare students for the future of work and foster new\, innovative approaches to design and production. \nIn October/November we are featuring two powerful tools: Dtail.com and Fermat.app. We will explore how technologies like AI\, virtual reality\, and on-demand manufacturing are transforming industries. Beyond a simple demonstration\, these sessions will provide a hands-on learning experience\, giving you the practical skills to apply in your work. \nOn November 5\, we will be presenting Fermat.app. Fermat is a company that provides an AI-powered toolbox for professionals in the fashion and apparel industry. Their platform helps users from the initial concept to the final consumer product. It includes a no-code tool editor that allows companies to create custom AI tools. A key feature is the ability to generate custom AI models for image creation using mood boards\, materials\, and the user’s own products. This technology helps to streamline creative processes\, generate new ideas\, create custom visual content\, and work more efficiently from design to marketing. Stacked\, open-fronted gift boxes serve as cabinets of curiosity\, framing the inventive objects\, garments\, and images that represent the many facets of art and design at FIT. Interwoven with playful ribbons\, floating snowflakes\, and maker’s tools\, the displays evoke the shared spirit of creativity and the community of makers behind it. \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.

This vast scope of work reflects contemporary trends of fine art photography\, showcasing individual creative vision\, while reflecting the time and place we all inhabit. \nAll Things Considered is a student-led exhibition\, produced and created in the Photographic Concepts and Exhibition course where throughout the semester students produce photographs to push their technical and creative abilities\, as well as working collaboratively in committees to bring this show to life. \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.
