It includes the repetition of abstract ideas as well as form. \nPattern\, the Grid\, and Other Systems will include two-dimensional\, three-dimensional\, and time-based artwork from FIT faculty\, students\, and distinguished alumni\, as well as from guest artists. In addition\, panel discussions and talks by participating artists and guest lecturers will take place during the run of the exhibition. \nFeatured Artists:\nAvantika Bawa\, Rufina Bazlova\, Susan Daykin\, Oasa DuVerney\, Abigail DeVille\, Carla Edwards\, Anne Finkelstein\, Kathleen Granados\, Haley Hayden\, Peter Hoffmeister\, Karl Jensen\, Ruth Jeyaveeran\, Nomi Kleinman\, Joyce Kozloff\, Mark Kurdziel\, Marie Lorenz\, Nontsikelelo Mutiti\, John O’Connor\, Stephanie Pierce\, Lobsang Tsewang\, Maxim Tyminko\, Jessica Wynne\, Farangiz Yusupova\, Joseph Zutelgte\, plus FIT students to be announced. \nThe exhibition will be on display October 27 through December 3 in FIT’s Art and Design Gallery\, located at the northwest corner of West 27th Street and Seventh Avenue in New York City. \n\nAbout the Art and Design Gallery \nThe Art and Design Gallery brings together the work of FIT students\, faculty\, alumni\, and invited r outside artists in every exhibition. The gallery\, located in the glass-walled lobby of FIT’s Pomerantz Center\, is a window into the college and a window out\, serving as a space to foster learning and innovation. \nThe gallery is open 9 am to 5 pm daily. \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Exhibition: ¡Moda Hoy! Latin American and Latinx Fashion Design Today — Closes
DESCRIPTION:May 31–November 5\, August 27\, 2023\nFashion and Textile History Gallery \nDue to unexpected maintenance issues\, the ¡Moda Hoy! exhibition closed on August 27.  We apologize for any inconvenience. Please check the MFIT website for future exhibition schedules.\n \nFor decades\, fashion designers of Latin American descent such as Carolina Herrera\, Oscar de la Renta\, and Haider Ackermann have been central figures of the fashion industry. Their successes have paved the way for new generations of talented designers including Gabriela Hearst\, Carla Fernández\, and Willy Chavarria. These represent only a few of the emerging designers who are making their mark on the fashion scene by creating for famous fashion houses\, winning prestigious awards\, and dressing celebrity clients. \n¡Moda Hoy! Latin American and Latinx Fashion Design Today includes creators from Latin American countries\, as well as designers of Latin American heritage living and working in the United States and Europe who are often referred to as Hispanic\, Latino/Latina\, or the gender-neutral term Latinx. Featuring more than 60 objects from the museum’s permanent collection\, including many new acquisitions\, the exhibition rejects the notion of a singular Latin American style\, to focus instead on the diversity of talent present today in Latin America and its diaspora. \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.
