SUMMARY:ARTSpeak: Dannielle Tegeder
DESCRIPTION:Dannielle Tegeder; Hilma’s Ghost\, Abstract Futures\, fabricated by Stephen Miotto\, photo by Erienne Frossard.\nDannielle Tegeder is a New York City–based artist whose practice is grounded in painting\, but also extends to drawing\, wall works\, sculpture\, installation\, animation\, music\, artist books\, conceptual strategies and writing. Born in a family of steamfitters\, her exposure to shop drawings\, construction plans\, and diagrams became an inspiration to her work. Her work has been shown extensively both nationally and internationally. \nIn 2020 she co-founded the two-person collective Hilma’s Ghost in collaboration with artist Sharmistha Ray\, a feminist collective that has resulted in many exhibitions\, publications\, and education projects\, including a prestigious MTA Arts and Design commission\, Abstract Futures\, a 600-square-foot glass mosaic mural where the 7 train connects with Grand Central Station. \nThe ARTSpeak lecture series is presented by the Department of Fine Arts and been made possible by a generous grant from the Susan Daykin Fine Arts Department Fund. \nThis event is free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Fashion Design AAS Exhibition: Harmonic Threads — Closes
DESCRIPTION:By Moe Chonan\, FIT.\nApril 8–15\, 2026\nArt and Design Gallery \nMusic is a universal language that shapes how we think\, feel\, and connect. Harmonic Threads explores music beyond genre\, focusing instead on the emotions that sound evokes and how those feelings translate into fashion. Through silhouette\, texture\, color\, and movement\, the exhibition invites viewers to consider how emotional experiences—fleeting\, layered\, or contradictory—can be materialized on the body. \nThe exhibition is organized by the Fashion Design AAS Exhibition Committee with collaborators\, including adjunct instructor Ethan Minsker of the Film and Media department\, with students Benjamin Tarace and Candance Cooper\, who produced a short film about the connection between music and emotion. Hue magazine’s Alexander Joseph and intern Kevin Diller produced a short film asking members of the FIT community about their favorite music. \nCritic Award Ceremony: April 9\, 1–2 pm \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Documentary Screening: 'Invisible No More'
DESCRIPTION:FIT assistant professor of Marketing Communications Larry Tung presents his documentary Invisible No More\, which he directed and co-produced with Mehrinnisa Wani. \nSynopsis\nAsian Americans are no longer just an emerging force in New York City politics—they are making decisive gains at every level of government. The rise in Asian American representation is unmistakable\, with their growing political strength on full display\, particularly in Brooklyn’s newly designated Asian opportunity district. \nEstablished in 2023 through the once-a-decade redistricting process\, the district reflects the rapid growth and increasing influence of the Asian American community. City Councilmembers Linda Lee\, Sandra Ung\, and Susan Zhuang\, alongside State Senator John Liu and former State Senator Iwen Chu\, share their paths to public service—how they broke barriers\, claimed seats at the table\, and now amplify the voices of their communities. \nThis screening is sponsored by the Jay and Patty Baker School of Business and Technology. \nThis event is free and open to the public.  \n REGISTER VIA GOOGLE FORM
