SUMMARY:Exhibition: Adapt/Evolve — Opens
DESCRIPTION:September 18–October 25\, 2025\nArt and Design Gallery\, Pomerantz Center \nAdapt/Evolve is a thought-provoking exhibition that examines adaptive and inclusive design across disciplines within FIT’s School of Art and Design\, including Fashion Design\, Accessories Design\, Interior Design\, Graphic Design\, Jewelry Design\, and Toy Design. \nThe exhibition highlights how interdependence is central to how we live\, interact\, and create inclusive design. Adapt/Evolve reexamines the idea of autonomy and questions traditional divides between dependence and independence. Through multidisciplinary objects\, the show also emphasizes how accessible and adaptive design has become a vehicle for breaking down barriers\, allowing us to engage with one another more equally. \nAn opening reception will be held September 18\, 5–8 pm. RSVP online. \nAdapt/Evolve will be accompanied by a symposium\, which will be held October 16\, noon–5 pm. The symposium will feature panel discussions and presentations investigating adaptive design. \n\nAbout the Art and Design Gallery \nThe Art and Design Gallery brings together the work of FIT students\, faculty\, alumni\, and invited outside artists in every exhibition. The gallery\, located in the glass-walled lobby of FIT’s Pomerantz Center\, is a window into the college and a window out\, serving as a space to foster learning and innovation. \nThe gallery is open 9 am to 5 pm daily. \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.

SUMMARY:Exhibition: Cut and Miss: From Binary Draft to Woven Textile — Opens
DESCRIPTION:Weavings by Nana Osako; photo by Eliza Rim.\nSeptember 18–October 12\nGoodman Center Lobby \nThis exhibition showcases the journey of Textile/Surface Design students\, from foundational weaving techniques to cutting-edge digital applications. Cut and Miss features a diverse range of projects\, highlighting the evolution of skills and creative expression across introductory and advanced levels. Traditional hand woven samples are displayed alongside fabric developed through digital weaving and manufactured at an American textile mill. Process sketches\, drafts\, and digital images display the marriage of design and technical skill required to create woven fabrics. \nThe exhibition includes a loom with scheduled weaving demonstrations by students and faculty. This interactive feature offers a live glimpse into the craft and provides an opportunity for visitors to connect with the Textile/Surface Design Department. \nWeekend Weaving Demonstrations Schedule \n\nSaturday\, September 20\, noon–2 pm\nSunday\, September 21\, 1–3 pm\nSaturday\, September 27\, noon–2 pm\nSunday\, September 28\, 1–3 pm\nSaturday and Sunday\, Oct 4 and 5  no weaving\nSaturday\, October 11\, noon–2 pm\nSunday\, October 12\, 1–3 pm\n\nThis exhibition is part of New York Textile Month. He will present his newest book\, Artists of Provincetown. \nArtists of Provincetown\, by fine art photographer Ron Amato\, seeks to not only celebrate\, but preserve the legacy of one of the nation’s oldest art colonies\, now facing an uncertain future due to rising property values\, corporate invasion\, and what\, in the book’s introduction\, Pulitzer Prize–winning author Michael Cunningham calls\, “catastrophic expense.” \nMade over a period of eight years\, Artists of Provincetown contains 84 quietly immersive portraits that illustrate the breadth and depth of this 125-year-old community of painters\, writers\, photographers and sculptors. \nThis virtual event is free and open to the public.  \n REGISTER
