SUMMARY:AI\, Teaching\, and Learning Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The symposium on AI\, Teaching\, and Learning at FIT will explore how emergent technologies are upending and changing how and what we teach in addition to how students learn. This new learning landscape demands serious discussions about challenges for knowledge-making\, creativity\, intellectual property\, authenticity\, and academic\, professional\, and artistic integrity. SUMMARY:Emerging Technology Faculty Workshop: AI Prompt Engineering
DESCRIPTION:Step into a studio where a prompt\, a doodle\, or a quick photo can become a 3D object in hours. We’ll guide you through friendly\, AI-assisted tools that generate multiple options so you can follow your taste\, not a manual. You’ll compare a few variations\, pick a favorite\, and learn simple checks for size and “printability” without opening complex 3D software. Want it in AR? We’ll show how to preview on a phone and share with a link. Want it on a pedestal? We’ll walk you through a painless print workflow with presets and a checklist. \nExpect plenty of hand-holding\, clear worksheets\, and time to play. By the end\, you’ll have something you imagined\, ready to hold or view in XR—and the confidence to make another. \nThis event is for the FIT community only.  \n RSVP FOR THE SEPT. 16 SESSION\n  \nNote: This workshop will be offered again on Oct. 9\, at 3 pm.

SUMMARY:Emerging Technology Faculty Workshop: 3D Scanning
DESCRIPTION:Capture the things you love—a shoe\, a sculpture\, a corner of a room—and place them in a small\, navigable scene. We’ll teach a simple photo dance (how many shots\, where to stand\, what light to find) that produces clean results. SUMMARY:Emerging Technology Faculty Workshop: Virtual Beings and Motion Capture
DESCRIPTION:Meet your digital presenter—designed by you\, animated by your face and your movement\, all from a phone. We’ll help you build a MetaHuman\, capture a short performance\, and assemble a tiny scene that feels alive. No coding: just clear steps\, a few buttons\, and some theater-class tips on framing and voice. You’ll see how a smile or a nod reads on camera\, how a light can flatter\, and how a few edits make it sing. \nWe’ll also keep you safe: consent\, likeness\, and storage explained simply with ready-to-use forms. Think of it as a miniature studio session with a digital actor you control. You’ll export a 20–40 second clip that’s showcase-ready—and a workflow you can repeat. \nThis event is for FIT faculty only.  \n RSVP FOR THE SEPT. 25 SESSION\n  \nNote: This workshop is also offered on Oct. 16\, at 4 pm.

SUMMARY:Emerging Technology Faculty Workshop: Interactive Mirror
DESCRIPTION:Turn a blank wall into a responsive\, playful mirror that notices you and answers back with light. We’ll start from a ready-to-go project\, swap in effects\, and map the image neatly to your surface with tape-and-test simplicity. SUMMARY:Emerging Technology Faculty Workshop: Sculpting in Virtual Reality
DESCRIPTION:Put on a headset and treat the air like a sketchbook—draw shapes\, pull surfaces\, and feel your idea take volume around you. We’ll turn that playful sketch into a tidy\, printable form using a few friendly settings and a short checklist. You’ll learn just enough about “walls\,” supports\, and orientation to make the printer happy without learning a new profession. If you like\, we’ll add a quick finish plan—sand\, prime\, or paint—to bring your piece to life. \nThis is a space to experiment\, undo\, and try again until your sculpture feels right. We keep the tech invisible and the process inviting. You’ll leave with a VR-born design that’s either on the print queue or ready to drop in. \nThis event is for FIT faculty only.  \n RSVP FOR THE OCT. 8 SESSION\n  \nNote: This workshop is also offered on Oct. 24\, at 1 pm.

\n RSVP FOR THE OCT. 9 SESSION\n  \nNote: This workshop is also offered on Sept. 16\, at noon.

DESCRIPTION:The FIT DTech Lab is exploring emerging technologies and AI\, and we are excited to continue our DTech Talks series designed to equip faculty with in-depth knowledge of the latest innovations. These sessions aim to demystify new technologies and explore how they are shaping the creative industries\, from product creation to supply chain management. By empowering the FIT community\, we can better prepare students for the future of work and foster new\, innovative approaches to design and production. \nIn October/November we are featuring two powerful tools: Dtail.com and Fermat.app. We will explore how technologies like AI\, virtual reality\, and on-demand manufacturing are transforming industries. Beyond a simple demonstration\, these sessions will provide a hands-on learning experience\, giving you the practical skills to apply in your work. \nOn November 5\, we will be presenting Fermat.app. Fermat is a company that provides an AI-powered toolbox for professionals in the fashion and apparel industry. Their platform helps users from the initial concept to the final consumer product. It includes a no-code tool editor that allows companies to create custom AI tools. A key feature is the ability to generate custom AI models for image creation using mood boards\, materials\, and the user’s own products. This technology helps to streamline creative processes\, generate new ideas\, create custom visual content\, and work more efficiently from design to marketing. The platform can be used for rapid prototyping\, creating mockups\, enhancing product shots\, and even turning sketches into videos. \n\n10–10:05 am: FIT faculty arrival + Michael Ferraro introduction\n10:05–11 am: Fermat.app demo (in person)\n11–11:30 am: Q&A; event ends\n\nThis event is for FIT faculty only; in-person attendance is preferred\, but a virtual option will be provided.     \n RSVP FOR THE FERMAT DEMO
