DESCRIPTION:Claire McCardell\, Popover dress\, rayon\, brass hooks & eyes\, c. 1947\, Lord & Taylor\, American\, founded 1826\, Gift from Hood College of Frederick\, Maryland\, 96.61.6\nApril 5–16\, 2023\nGallery FIT\, The Museum at FIT \nThis exhibition explores the work of Claire McCardell (1905-1958)\, one of the founders of American sportswear. Introducing key themes that are characteristic of McCardell’s designs\, it features nine original dresses from The Museum at FIT’s Study Collection\, mid-20th-century advertisement materials from Special Collections and College Archives\, and her now classic book\, What Shall I Wear? The What\, Where\, When\, and How Much of Fashion\, originally published in 1956. \nClaire McCardell: Practicality\, Liberation\, Innovation was organized by Nico Frederick\, Christina Pene\, and Emma Sosebee\, seniors in the Art History and Museum Professions undergraduate program (AHMP). \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.

DESCRIPTION:Candle\, by Shawn Carpenter\, licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0.\nApril 5–14\nFeldman Center Lobby \nAuschwitz—A Place on Earth: The Auschwitz Album will honor Holocaust Remembrance Day.  This photography exhibition from Yad Vashem\, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center\, depicts the only known visual documentation of the arrival and processing of a transport of Jews to Auschwitz-Birkenau\, the concentration and extermination center used by the Nazis during WWII. As you walk through the Feldman Center Lobby\, look at these images and see the not-so-distant past. \nThis exhibition is free and open to the public.
