Stephanie Savell is director of the University’s Costs of War project, which documents the consequences of United States military operations and spending, at home and abroad. Building on the work of over 70 scholars, the project’s research is a top resource for media, policymakers, and peace and social justice movements on the budgetary, human, environmental, and social costs of U.S. war. A public anthropologist, Savell is committed to transforming U.S. public narratives and challenging the dominance of the military-industrial complex in shaping policy decisions. Savell’s work has been featured in The Washington Post, The Guardian, CNN, BBC, NPR, and many other outlets.
