The Justice Film Festival showcases films that emphasize social justice and affirm the dignity of all people. Since 2012, JFF has been committed to creating a platform for redemptive stories of marginalized people and ecosystems bravely overcoming challenges and bringing optimism, empathy, and light to a world in need of inspiration.

The Social Justice Center at FIT is proud to partner with JFF for the portion of the festival taking place at the college; sessions 1–3 take place at DCTV’s Cinema for Documentary Film and the opening night event takes place at the Film Forum.

February 26: Session 8, 3:30–5:30 pm
Bob Fisch Presentation Hall, Joyce F. Brown Academic Building

A world premiere of Handmade Future, a feature documentary directed by Kirsten Dickerson exploring the enduring value of human craftsmanship in an automated world.

Handmade Future follows artisans in six countries who preserve heritage, navigate the complex role of middlemen, and advance responsible trade—pushing back against fast, cheap production to quietly restore a frayed world through beauty and human connection. From rug weavers in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains and block printers in India’s Golden Triangle to Appalachian broom makers in Kentucky and recycled-glass blowers in Kenya, the film showcases craftspeople whose work carries generations of skill, culture, and creativity. (1 hour, 23-minutes followed by Q&A with filmmakers Kirsten and Brandon Dickerson)

The film festival is open to the public; it is a ticketed event.

NOTE: Films screened at FIT are free for all FIT students, employees, and alumni using promo code FITFREE26
