Exhibition: Africa’s Fashion Heritage: Eight African Countries — Opens

February 2–28
Goodman Center Lobby
In celebration of Black History Month, this digital 3D fashion exhibition presents a total of 28 looks, featuring traditional African ensembles from prestigious museum collections alongside contemporary reinterpretations from The Museum at FIT, created by legendary fashion designers from eight African countries—Côte d’Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, and South Africa.
On screens in the Goodman Center Lobby, each look is meticulously 3D modeled and interwoven with the stories of cultural trailblazers whose lives and legacies have inspired global audiences. Together, these works honor the richness, innovation, and enduring influence of African fashion, preserving its cultural heritage for future generations.
This project is part of The Legacy: Diversity Meets Technology (founded in 2021), a collegewide experiential learning initiative that promotes multicultural diversity through emerging technologies.
This exhibition is free and open to the public; the Goodman Lobby’s exhibition hours are Monday–Friday, 9 am–8 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 10 am–5 pm.
